We would like to invite teachers and educators who care for educational innovation and school well-being to join Assoc. Prof. Le Van Hao and Dr. Nguyen Thu Le Hang in this webinar. They will share their pedagogical interests and their long experience of how mindfulness can be a foundation for students’ deep learning to take place, especially in the virtual learning age.
This webinar topic is inspired by PEN 2020 heartful presentations on Deep Learning and Mindfulness. Further conversations with Assoc. Prof. Hao and Dr. Hang will be led to:
- Deep learning in education
- The creativity tool SCAMPER
- Co-creation and innovation learning environment
- The human-centred approach in teaching and learning
- The practice of mindfulness in the classroom

Feature Speakers
| Assoc. Prof. Le Van Hao | Assoc. Prof. Hao graduated in physics in 1981, followed by a Masters’ in education at Simon Fraser University, BC, Canada in 1996, and then earned his PhD in higher education at the University of Melbourne, Australia in 2001. His areas of higher education expertise include educational research, teaching and assessment methodology, quality assurance and accreditation, and university management. Since 1981, he has been a physics lecturer at Nha Trang University, Vietnam where he became Vice-director of the Academic Affairs in 2001, in charge of quality assurance and teaching staff’s capacity development, then Director of Quality Assurance and Testing during 2007 – 2019. Dr. Hao was a visiting scholar at Washington State University, US during 2008-2009, and at University of Melbourne, Australia in 2017. At present, Dr. Hao works as a consultant and trainer on quality assurance at several universities, and as an assessor of Vietnam higher education accreditation. |
| Dr. Nguyen Thu Le Hang | Dr. Hang Nguyen is a senior lecturer and the head of the Fast-track (BA Honors) program, Faculty of English Language Teacher Education, University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Vietnam. She holds a Master’s degree in Teaching English as a foreign language, and a PhD in education, both from Australian universities – University of Sydney and Victoria University respectively. She has expertise in TEFL, teacher education and project management. Her professional interests include innovative education, quality assurance and emotional intelligence. |
